Iran Claims Downing of Israeli F-35
(MENAFN) An Iranian representative declared on Wednesday that an Israeli F-35 stealth jet had been downed close to Tehran.
Officials also stated they had dismantled 14 unmanned aircraft allegedly employed by Israeli operatives during missions across several regions.
Hossein Abbasi, the regional head of Varamin—a town situated just south of the capital—reported to a national news outlet that the jet crashed near the area.
“An Israeli F-35 fighter jet was brought down around Varamin,” Abbasi stated, noting that law enforcement had commenced an inquiry into the episode.
No information was disclosed regarding the aviator of the fallen aircraft.
Sources within Iran asserted that this incident represents the third alleged instance of an Israeli combat aircraft being brought down since Israel began a large-scale armed campaign targeting Iran the previous Friday.
Additionally, Iranian state media aired visuals which it claimed showed the wreckage of an Israeli Hermes 900 UAV, asserting it had been taken down by aerial defenses in the eastern sector of Isfahan province.
According to the report, the drone was equipped with eight sophisticated missiles.
The Israeli military verified that one of its drones was destroyed by a surface-launched missile over Iranian territory. No casualties were noted.
Officials in Iran stated they had eliminated 14 drones supposedly deployed by Israeli agents, as per remarks from Iranian Police Representative Saeed Montazerolmehdi.
