SPU Expands Digital Billing Notices for Customers
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is enhancing digital access to customer accounts and billing information to better serve our customers.
Beginning September 25, customers with an existing Utility Services account may begin receiving digital notifications for past-due, urgent, and final shutoff notices. These notifications are in addition to regular bi-monthly bills sent to customers enrolled in paperless billing.
This update reflects our commitment to providing customers with timely, accessible information and convenient tools to manage their accounts and stay informed about their billing status.
If customers are behind on their bill, support is available. SPU offers a bill assistance program and ongoing discounts designed to help customers manage their balances. We encourage customers to check eligibility and apply today at Utility Assistance.
We know that not everyone qualifies for the assistance programs, so we offer payment plans. SPU expanded access to flexible payment solutions through our partnership with PromisePay. These payment plans allow customers to break down past-due balances into smaller, more manageable payments, track progress, and manage payment methods online. With PromisePay, customers with a past-due balance of $100 or more may also receive text messages or emails offering access to available payment plans.
We are also strengthening language access across our services. SPU has upgraded language access options in our phone system, making it easier for customers to navigate to their preferred language and connect with an interpreter for assistance.
